Alan Irvine
Storyteller Alan Irvine is the winner of the 2010 Storytelling World Award for Best Stories for Adults for his CD “Lost Love” and has been delighting Dublin Irish Festival audiences with his Irish tales for many years. For this year’s Festival, he has worked up a brand new tale: The Cattle Raid of Cooley- or The Tain Bo Cuilaigne – the greatest tale of Celtic Ireland. Sometimes called the Illiad of Ireland the Tain tells of the great warrior Cuchullain’s single-handed defense of Ulster against the invading armies of Ireland. The tale has fascinated Alan for years; now after many months of work, he brings this great epic vividly to his life. Alan’s Irish Ghost stories were a Festival favorite last year and he returns with a whole new collection of Irish specters and haunts. Sure!!?? Well his research took him to sources in Ireland, the Smithsonian and beyond. He will share his knowledge with you through story and song as he answers the question that is on every buckeye tongue, “what do Irish aviators and Ohio farmers have in common?” Don’t miss Bob performing with his group Bob Ford and the Ragamuffins on the Shamrock Pub Stage on Fri. and Sat.. http://bobfordmusic.com
