Accordion- Marian Funk

Marian will explain the art of playing the accordion in traditional Irish music.  She will be using a button and piano accordion to demonstrate the basics of playing the accordion.

Bagpipe Set-up, Maintenance and Demonstration - Jerry Gibson

Jerry Gibson will educate viewers on how bagpipes are made, taken care of and lessons on how to play the bagpipes. Gibson Bagpipes makes Highland bagpipes, small pipes, practice Chanters and accessories here in the United States. Gibson Bagpipes was featured on “Made in America.”

Fiddle- Charlene Adzima

What makes a violin a fiddle?  Seasoned Irish fiddler Charlene Adzima will walk you through the unique qualities and techniques of Irish fiddle playing.  Charlene has over 10 years of experience playing fiddle in the Irish style and 16 years playing violin.  She is the 2005 Midwest Senior Irish fiddle champion and is an enthusiastic and energizing fiddle teacher.  Musicians are welcome to bring their instruments and recording devices.

Guitar- Donal Clancy


Donal Clancy was born in 1975, and spent most of his early years in the United States and Canada.  At the age of eight, Donal learned to play the Irish tin whistle, and shortly after received his first guitar.  He was inspired to play Irish music by Irish guitarist Paul Brady, along with others.  Donal moved back the United States in 1998, where he became involved in Irish-American Music.  Clancy has performed with such Irish greats as Eileen Ivers, Solas and the band Danu which he co-founded.  www.donalclancy.com

Guitar- John Sherman


John Sherman is an internationally recognized arranger and performer of Irish music for fingerstyle guitar. He is currently a teacher at Cincinnati's Riley School of Irish Music and a member of the Celtic concert band Silver Arm.  John's arrangements are featured on three critically acclaimed solo CDs and in two instruction books as well as several anthologies featuring fingerstyle guitarists.

He will discuss the guitar’s role in arranging and performance of Irish traditional band music, with special attention to features of rhythm, bass and counterpoint will be discussed.

Hammered Dulcimer- Andi Wolfe

Andy Wolfe will present the music of Turlough O’Carolan and tell the stories of his life and times.  O’Carolan’s music was composed for the Irish Harp, but translates beautifully to the hammer dulcimer.  Andy will play a selection of tunes that represent the musical career of O’Carolan.   www.aisling.us

Irish Harp for All- Candyce Dunham

Adults and children of all levels, from never played before too seasoned players are welcome to come and play.  Candyce Dunham specializes in teaching and person interested in the harp how to play and have fun doing it.  This is an opportunity to learn a very unique instrument with a qualified instructor. 

Candyce Dunham, professional harpist and certified instructor, will be offering the “Irish Harp for All” workshop.  Mrs. Dunham has studied the harp intensively throughout her life in the classical, Irish and Scottish methods.  During her harp studies Candyce has won many accolades including competitions and scholarships. Irish Songs- Aoife Clancy

Aoife was born in Carrick-on-Suir, in Co Tipperary Ireland.  Clancy learned to play the guitar at the age of ten and by 14 she was playing in the pubs with her father Bobby Clancy of the famous band the Clancy Brothers.  Aoife’s sound is an inspiring one with the combination of folk music and traditional Irish songs.  In the last decade Aoife has released seven recordings and continues to be a force to reckon with within the Irish- folk genre.

Irish Song Writing- Robbie O’Connell

Robbie O’Connell has performed as a solo act, and also has appeared in several Irish bands including the Clancy Brothers, O’Connell & Clancy, and many more.  O’Connell has recorded 14 albums, and has lent his talents on seven compilation albums.  O’Connell is the recipient of the Boston Music Award for outstanding Celtic act, and has performed on every major stage including Carnegie Hall, and has also performed at many Irish Festivals throughout the world.   www.robbieoconnell.com
