Big Thanks To All the Volunteers

We’ve always said we couldn’t put on this festival without the help of our many volunteers. This year we had over 1,300 volunteers give a total of 12,086 hours of hard work to help make the 2009 Festival happen.

On Sunday, some of those volunteers helped us collect and box up close to 8,000 pounds of non-perishable food items donated festival attendees. Also, a combine $5,735 was collected from the three Masses that morning. That money goes to various charities aided by the St. Brigid Social Action Committee.

Thanks to everyone who donated their time, food and money.

Day 3 – Get in Free Before 11 a.m.

Hard to believe it is the last day of the Festival for 2009. Bring the whole family Sunday and get in free before 11 am for various Sunday Services. Be sure to bring a non-perishable food item and help out the Dublin Food Pantry.

After the services, grab some breakfast/lunch and watch the Young Dubliners at 12:30 pm. Don’t forget about the Irish Contests at the Wendy’s Wee Folk Area at 3:30 pm. And of course the Festival Finale at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Dublin Stage at 8:30 pm.

Hope you have a great day today at the Dublin Irish Festival!

Day 2 – Dude Where’s My Caber?

Stop by the Tansky Sawmill Toyota Greenfields Sports area todayand watch some big dudes compete in sports native to Celtic lands. The Gaelic Games offer a distinctive line-up of Celtic sporting contests including the caber and sheaf toss as well as an open stone throw.

Bike parking was huge with guests last night. Ride your bike to the Festival and leave it at our Bike Parking, located just west of the Dublin Community Recreation Center and at the corner of Emerald Parkway and Dublin Coffman High School.

Be sure to get here early to experience a full day of best of Irish music, food, sports, art and culture.

The Sun is Shinning!

The sun is out and we are less than an hour away from the start of the festival! The rain has made the grounds a bit muddy so be sure to wear your old sneakers.

Gaelic Storm is at the Killian’s Celtic Rock Stage at 10:30 p.m.

Birthdays, Anniversaries and Weddings

The Dublin Irish Festival is not just a place to come and see the best of Irish dance, music, sports, art and culture, it’s also quickly becoming a favorite of many to celebrate their birthdays, anniversaries, family reunions, and even weddings.

Engagement-08

Many of you probably remember the engagement from a few years ago, or the wedding from last year. This year we have three weddings planned.

Recently on our facebook page, many have shared their stories. Below are a few.

DIF ‘07 was a reunion for me and my best friend from high school that I hadn’t seen in nearly 15 years! Haven’t seen her since then, but we’ve already got plans to meet up next weekend! THANKS DIF!!!
-Robin Brown

Ever since my parents invited my aunt and uncle to the festival a few years ago, it has become our yearly unofficial family reunion site. So if you see a group of people wearing matching t-shirts, say ‘Hi!”
-Chuck McGroarty

We’re celebrating our 40th anniversary there this year on Sunday!
